how much of a job to change this

so just the balljoint end to whack off , the rest easy enough ???

You will probably struggle to remove the ball joint taper without a splitter/ or damaging the boot.
The ball joint is pressed into the hub on the end of that arm.
I wouldn't fit the fe I arm personally, as the rose joint in the middle of the arm has given me problems in years gone by

I'm pretty sure mine had these done at the turn of the year - it was a pig of a job getting the old ones off from what I could see!

If you have the right tools it's very straight forward. However get your alignment checked afterwards. You will need a 21mm socket IIRC

Use Lemforda or MB. I have managed to get MB to discount parts down to trade by quoting ECP prices.

I priced the arm at mb sunderland today a whopping £180 . went to ecp for lemforder arm £ 78 . bought myself a ball joint splitter and will be getting stuck into this in the morning .

I'm fairly certain just a new middle ball joint would fix a lot of the issues with this arm £15 lemforder .

You will be surprised at the difference a complete arm with new bush will make. Don't forget to tighten the bush nut when the car suspension is under normal load.

To do this I chocked under the wheel hub and lowered the car to place the suspension under normal load once all nuts and bolts in place and hand tight; then tightened to spec torque. If you have a full car lift you won't need this but I just have my drive.

i was lying on my back reamer .... AGAIN !!! , all done just gotta do a road test now. money saved on labour paid for the parts .

Well done matey. Did you do both sides? Being on your back this time of year under any car is no fun. That said I had an army of ants taking too much interest in me back end of summer. That hurt!!

no just the near side as that's where the knocking was coming from , the middle ball joint was totally goosed , I ve got car booked in for the n/s hub ball joint , then ill think about doing the o/s arm , the car is silent now over bumps .
