When i test drove the car it sounded perfect, but I must admit, I listen to most was the sound of the engine.

MY W204 C63 is a weekend car, one to enjoy, the sound of the V8, large enough to still pick up the kids, go for a blip, what more could you ask.

Now comes the but, over the last 2 weeks and not always driving in sport plus of manual mode, the rattles started to play on my mind. A few years ago I bought a 911 and sold after 6 months as I could not stand the rattles.

Now I can tell I have got older, time for a bit of investigation, could I work out where the noise was coming from, hell no. Strategical placed rags, wrapping, tape was all part of investigation. I have bought more plastic foam tape, new number plate holders, but after 2 weeks I found the problem, the seat electrics on the passenger seat has lost its screw.

2 cable ties and a blast on a test drive on the non motorway type bumpy roads and all was quiet. Guess what, now I found another sound.................only to discover it was the plastic shopping bags on the rear seat.

I now have the new number plate holder, cable ties in place, no plastic bags and the car is all good.

With age comes patience, I have finally grown up. However, I still a kid at heart when I start it up:)

I can see your point. A rattle appeared in my W163, i searched for it for weeks, convinced it was either in the passenger door, or under the wiper scuttle.
I found it yesterday, the wife had left her riding spurs in the glove box, they were rattling against each other. DOH
Quiet car now, until the next rattle !!!!!

I find pressing <Up> on the volume control of the stereo helps; what I can't hear, I can't worry about.

my last car, a Saab 9-3 was rattle free with exception to the drivers seat which squeaked like made and drove me made, guess what, my Merc is exactly the same, rattle free but with a squeaky drivers seat, must be me

As the common denominator, are you sure it's not you who is squeaking? :D

You drive a C63 (for pleasure use only), a car with its own soundtrack, and you are concerned with the odd rattle and squeak ?

What a fickle fellow you are. My 11 year old 128000 mile daily drive C55 AMG has ZERO rattles and squeaks (the old ones must have been put together properly) BUT...I find the rear wiper (estate) very fu**ing annoying in its loudness , to the point where I switch the thing off. The motor sounds like it was designed to open lock gates rather than wipe a dinky rubber strip against a bit of angled glass. GGrrrr.
