Hi owners/members,

I have introduced myself in the newbie section so I have coverd that.

I have owned the car (350 cls 2006 model) for over 3 months now had a EML light show up which turned out to be a faulty Lambda sensor. Sorted this, then yesterday I get EML light with two fault codes showing up. The first one I am not so concerned about its to do with a purge valve being stuck closed.

Its this next code (P0015) which I am. It states camsharft continuously adjusting camshaft exhaust bank 1 right. Could it be a simple case of the sensor failing or does this point to the dreaded Balance shaft issues ?

The cars history and symptoms I have experienced:

No evidence in history of the balance shafts being replaced.

The car doesn't stall when coming to a stop, also does not hesitate on acceleration. Does idle a little unsteady at times, nothing to un normal though.

The car does fall into the balance shaft failure bracket via engine number.

I have to get the car to my indy that I use to take a better look but I was hoping for a little more info on what you guys think it is and if the worst case scenario how much is the fix roughly on this?

Thanks for reading, shame my first post could be a nasty one for me but I really like the quality and ride comfort of the car so just want to resolve it.

Forgot to add the car has covered 84,000 miles 2006 56 reg

Cheers,

Tom

interesting link, good read.

Have to admit I'm not mechanical minded or gifted when it comes to these complex issues.

As far as I'm aware the car isn't consuming extra amounts of oil as does not have a visible oil leak.

I did erase the fault codes and then drove the car a short journey in which the EML light did not return. In reading the above link this good be a positive sign :dk:. The car drives great no real obvious signs the car is suffering this dreaded failure. But best bet is to get the car into the specialists in this field.

Any other views on this matter much welcome.

Cheers

It's camshaft magnets. Had the same thing. Cheap to replace.

I hope you are correct cls350doc.

The car doesn't give any obvious signs of balance shaft wear/failure so I really hope it is a cheap fix. Really do like the comfort quality and ride of the car.

Don't be put off by people scaring you here regarding balance shaft. Find a reputable mechanic and they will ensure you don't get conned.

I have erased the fault codes the car was throwing up and so far the EML light hasn't returned.

Fingers crossed.
