Ford focus estate turbo diesel 51 plate
Seen 1 on eBay low miles 55 plate 1 owner £7190 is that about right price it's from a garage too. Are they worth the money ? Are they thirsty it's a 30 Ltr diesel.
I have ford focus estate had it 6 years 51 plate it's never had major problems just wear an Tare for MOT. Does about 42 MPG. At steady runs.
Would I have shock with e 280 ?

Im pretty sure the 280 is a v6 anx hax problems If im correct the 320 is a IL6 and a better engine, someone one the forum may be able to confirm either way for you

I would imagine you would feel it when it comes to filling up however you will also notice a huge difference in power and low down tourqe

I had a focus 1.6 petrol (great car) but compared to a merc the quality is nowhere near

Hope this helpful

I have a 55 plate, E280 CDI Sport W211. Yes it is a 3L engine, on a good long run, sub 70mph (such as the A30, A303, London to the SW) I can get 45MPG. Shorter trip of say 30mins to the local town, I get typically get 32MPG, according to the onboard computer.

A 55-plate is a pre-facelift W211, so it'll have SBC brakes which is a high-tech brake-by-wire system. Unfortunately, the brake fluid pump has become a liability on these cars, and costs over £1k to replace. If you factor that into your decision, then you're fine, but don't ignore (or get fobbed off by the seller about) any "Service Brake!" messages in the cluster.

Almost all 280s are 3.0l V6 OM642, replacing the old 2.7l IL5 OM647. In 2004/05, there were a few detuned 3.2l IL6 cars produced that were badged "E280" — see the pre-facelift engine table in the German Wikipedia W211 article — but I've never seen any indication that these came to the UK. The 320 was a 3.2l IL6 OM648 until 2005, when it became a 3.0l V6 OM642 at a higher power output than the 280.

Is it worth getting a Warranty cover with it. I don't want to buy a nice looking car an it's going to need parts so expensive to buy. I would have a go myself but I don't think you can buy Haynes manual ? Every Veichle or motorbike I've had I always buy Haynes an do the oil n filters changes myself. Keep the engine sweet.
But can imagine they be lots of technology under the bonnet on these beasts. ?
Thanks for all info from fellow Merc ppl.
It's much appreciated.
I have few saved on eBay app an auto trader app Have done for months but never got down to actually going ahead an trading focus in against 1 of them. As don't want to buy a bank loan on wheels. Maybe I should get a RAC car check costs £3?? They check everything from engine to upholstery. Takes half day ??

If you become a member of the Official Club, you get access to the EPC parts catalogue and WIS workshop manual. Very, very useful.

The W211 is actually pretty basic mechanically, and there's plenty of space to work on the IL4 and IL5 engines. IL6 and V6, and particularly V8, are more cramped. I do all my own servicing where possible, certainly oil and filter changes. It's a very easy car to work on: I'd much rather work on it than our C-MAX.

Personally, I'd get a local Mercedes independent specialist to check it over; and I'd not bother with a warranty once I'd built a bit of confidence in the car. Perhaps for the first few months it'd be worth it to protect against any lurking problems that are the real reason for the sale...?

Thanks Troon which would you go for out of all them from a C class 200 -220-270 or E class 280-320. I want a comfort car nice to drive an has the power to overtake an not to expensive in the fuel consumption. Even an estate..
I do like the looks of the saloon E280 sport diesel. Defo as to be a diesel.

is there any difference in the E280 - E320 which would be best to start with or even a C class 200-220-270. I ain't sure it's going to be used car as can't afford bran new 1.
