Well after almost two years of being Mercless Im back with a 1997 SLK 230k. :bannana:
Just got it home & taken photos of how she arrived before I start tinkering. On my to do list is -
Sort a few scratches & scrapes - need to find the exact colour / code
Tidy the interior, some scratches in the cream paint - need to find exact colour / code.
Replace stereo
Find some nicer wheels
Fit a smart roof module
get the spare key repaired if possible
adjust drivers window - not sealing at the front
may even a full retrim?

what is a smart roof module?
I have a 2000 320 slk.
Just done the sparkplugs, airfilters, fuel filter and pollen filter. now runs very well

I believe it is a "widget" so you can open your roof as you drive along up to certain low speeds.

Also opens and closes the roof from the remote.
Nice car - looks lovely. Just needs some decent wheels :)

Nice...looks vaguely familiar too. May I ask where you got it from?

Thank you for all your positive comments chaps, much appriciated!

Yeah, the smart roof or comfort roof thingy lets you open & close the roof with one press of the button, rather than having to hold it, even upto 30 mph & it can be operated with the standard key fob (so Ive been informed anyway)

looks very nice, always liked that colour.. linarite blue - paint code 352 :)

Ideally I would have liked a bright red one but this is not a bad 2nd choice, especially for the price I got it for. It has FSH with lots of recipts, 90k miles with T & T till feb. Thanks for the name & paint code :D

I got it from near Crewe from a guy on ebay!

Are you going to attempt to patch up the paint on the tunnel opposite the handbreak?

My SLK has marks in the same place but I thought that the cream coating is some kind of plastic rather than paint?

There are scratches on the tunnel, around the ignition key hole, on the glove box & on the door handles. You can buy the special spray paint on ebay to do the repair but there are a few shades. Its like a plastic coating / spray paint.
I would remove the items, paint & then re fit them (well, thats the idea!!)

Hi Slippy, nice project and you can do a lot with the SLK, what are your plans ?

Ah, sounds a bit too time consuming for me, will be interested to see how you do though!

Hi Clive, Ive only had it a few hours & just given it a good wash outside & a quick go over the engine bay so far as its hammering it down with rain now so its tucked up in the garage at the moment.
Initially I want to sort a few scratches & scrapes. An untreated scratch on the n/s front wing is starting to rust but the other arches seem clear of it.
Tidy the interior, some scratches in the cream paint - need to find exact colour / code.
Replace stereo & upgrade speakers
Find some nicer wheels pref 17" but will consider nice 18" or 16". I like the Adharaz?? type.

Two of my previous projects, a Porsche 944 & MGF I had a full leather re trim done, this may go the same way once the bodywork is sorted.
Maybe firm up the suspension slightly & Id like a twin exit exhaust (but not a noisy one)

Any other suggestions?

I`ll keep you updated. It should be fun removing the interior with no Haynes manual...........how hard can it be :wallbash:

Taking out - no problem. Putting back...................

Looks more like Quarz+Sand Code 225 to me, can be found on fleabay.
