I'm getting the 3 flashes on A/C, I've had the A/C regassed but A/C still not working.
Any ideas Guys

Some models require resetting via STAR before normal operation resumes

I rather think you have to run the compressor, and therefore the engine, to recharge the system.

How old is the car, and who did the regas?

Ac must get the go ahead after a regas, either with an icarsoft scanner or star.

I got the regas done at ATS
He told me I had holes in the condenser before he regassed it.
After regassed the light was still flashing so he took the gas back out and didn't charge me anything.
.

Could be a faulty AC pressure sensor, about £50 iirc from mb.

The w212 doesn’t need Star/iCarSoft after a regas 🤷‍♂️

If it was full of refrigerant and still not coming on my bet would be the ac pressure sensor.

Yep, that's always been my experience.
Car running, air con on and temperature set to the lowest setting.

That's not my experience whatsoever.

Holes in the condensor, so why did he attempt to regas, and why did the machine that checks this allow for it? BS.

ATS can do a nitrogen pressure test prior to regas. Much more effective at looking for leaks.

Anyway I went to ATS yesterday for a regas. Before regas it was cooler air from the vents but not icy. The car took a long time to drop temperature and be comfortable.
Like you after regas 3 flashes and then the AC light went out.

ATS chap said it is the condensor that has a technical issue, "it's only a radiator" left him looking a bit silly.

At ATS I plugged in my iCarsoft, no errors shown but performed a reset anyway.
It certainly wasn't an instant response but within minutes the LED stayed on and cool air was felt. Their temp probe recorded 7.5 C.
Did iCarsoft cause the difference?

ATS removed 261g and filled with 950. LP at 2 bar, HP at 12.4 bar. I saw over 15 bar on iCarsoft by the time I had driven home.
I'll tell you later how it is today.

Used to be , maybe its changed , for the better.

OP, if I understand you correctly, ATS attempted a regas, the light was still flashing, so the system was evacuated and left at that? Time to get an aircon professional to look at it. Unless you're in the back of beyond, there will be plenty in your area; Google is your friend to find one. (If you're near Maidenhead, Vanchilla is good).

M80, if 261g came out and 950g went in, all you needed was a top-up in the first place, which they did. Time will tell if there's a significant leak.

Isnt if obvious what the issue is then? You need a new condenser! Have I missed something?

I use www.wechillanycar.com for a home service. They will tell you what the issue is and can replace parts if required.

I was just about to ask the same thing . he found that the condenser was leaking but went ahead with the re gas anyway ?? . Maybe adding some kind of 'leakstopper' at the same time 🤷‍♂️.

Strange .

Hi, would i have to get the car on star, to complete the process, if I used them.

They have done my SL twice now and were able to reset the codes both times.

Thanks will bear them in mind, how often should the a/c need re gassing, as I feel that my car is adequate, but would prefer it a touch colder.

You have my sympathy & empathy. Have owned an SLK & SLC both purchased used with very low miles & BOTH had a/c issues sorted at moderate & excessive cost by a local independent Mercedes specialist. Both issues were down to poor quality components. Compare that experience with 4 company Fords/Toyota's & Vauxhalls that did 150k miles each & a private Honda & Audi- NONE had an a/c failure - or alloy wheels that were infected by the dreaded white-worm (delamination).

How long is a piece of string? If a car is used regularly and the aircon is left switched to automatic, the seals won't dry out and allow leakage nearly as soon as if the car is little used and the aircon is switched off.

In winter, when the aircon will rarely come on, you can keep it lubricated by using the screen demister for five minutes at least once a week. I do that, and I've had LOTS of Mercedes in the last eight years, and none ever had an aircon problem with leakage; two needed repair, one for a leaking condenser and the other for a failed compressor clutch.

If you feel it could be colder, have it checked to see if it has a full charge. Alternatively, just take it to ATS, or Kwikfit (steady men...), or whoever, for a recharge and see if it improves; there are usually offers on, so it won't cost much. If it does then blow colder, Bob's your uncle; if not, that's probably as good as it's going to get.

Alternatively, buy a diagnostic tool (an iCarsoft or similar) that you can use to check the system pressures yourself.

I just leave the AC permanently on, and select the desired temperature with climate control set to ‘auto’... :)

Well this posting shows why it is important that you go to a car aircon company there are quiet a few around,I use Into Cool in Essex,it staggers me that a ATS guy can regas a system when he knows the condensor is shot, cost of replacing that condensor about £300/400 ,last time I was at Into Cool he was showing me a couple of compressors, which he was repairing at a small cost, saying if these had gone into a garage they would have fitted a new one.
