Regards
Paul

Osborne's in M'head, Star Motors or John Griffiths in Caversham. I've used the 2 in Caversham - both good.

Just as a bit of extra info, John Griffiths in Caversham is absolutely fine, but they didn't have the equipment to diagnose my car via the STAR interface, but for basic mechanical stuff (exhausts, brake discs, pads etc), then they are definitely worth a look.

There are NO decent Indies around Slough/Maidenhead unless it is i.e. brake pads etc. that need changing.

Osbournes have a habit of leaving keys in the ignition of customers' cars parked in their car park as per feedback on this forum!

Better off taking it to the Stealer Hughes of Beaconsfield...!

Flash,

Have you ever been to Osbornes? Have you seen the way their facility is set up at the end of the cul de sac, in what amounts to a private compound? I've never used them because it's easier for me to get home from Caversham than M'head but I think to condemn them on what I suspect is hearsay seems a little harsh.

Mercs Only!!!

Have a look on yell (i think they are on there) been taking my car there for a couple of years now, just down the road in Southall.

Cheers

I have tried Mercs Only, was not impressed. I had a fault with ABS on my ML, they ran a diagnostic check, but couldnt find the problem.

I use Boxer Motorworks in Ashford, they service both my cars, and were able to fix the ABS problem, when the ML was getting serviced and did not charge any labour for the repair.

Good Merc Independent

Hi All,

Finally posting having remembered my passwd :bannana:

I've had my Mercs serviced by Chris Grey (Mercedes Independent) and have to say every time he has managed to find the fault and sort it within acceptable time frames and doesn't charge a fortune. I understand he's due to move soon to operate in Lacey Green near High Wycombe.

Wheels VT just outside Beaconsfield, great bunch of guys. Proper set up, got about 7 bays and a full valet area too. My mum takes her E220 Cab there and my dad his BMW 750

The number is 01494 670922

This isnt hearsay. Osborne's left the keys in my unlocked car when I went there last year. Never again.

Was that the SL55 or one of your other fleet Mercs ?

How are you - must come along to one of your pub meets - never been to the new location.

Hope to see you soon.

Hi Keith - great to hear from you. The car was my old R107 350SL which was having an mot and new exhaust prior to sale. The work was done ok but I was shocked by their lack of security.

Next meet is 10th April. Hope to see you and Genny then,

bws

Thanks for the e-mail re pub meet - sounds good - it's pencilled in for Tuesday evening 10 April at 8pm.

Perhaps we can get some more Mercs from here - if I remember the pub has a big car park.

Ian - Just come back from meet which is at The Old Devil, A4 Bath Road, Knowl Hill near Maidenhead. Pub has recently been refurbished, new landlord with excellent reputation and they do good food at reasoable prices. Have eaten there twice and can recommend.

This Merc meet is always the second Tuesday of the month so the next one will be Tues 8th May. Hope you can join us.

Sounds good to me

Ohhh I will try to, just up the road and over the motorway from me.

Would be good to goto a car meet and compare to other care marque clubs.

Have poped it into outlook.

Cheers

Ian
P.S. Got stuck in roadworks on M1 anyway, plus the last episode of 'Life on Mars' was on......blah blah...gearbox oil......polish exhaust.....auto boxes......mpg...cars....beer.......

Reliance Autos, Whittenham Interchange, Slough SL2 5EP. Tel 01753 575801 and ask for Martin. They are very competent. Although not strictly Mercedes-Benz specialist they are very thorough, have all the latest data and Hunter 4 wheel alignment (as used by BMW dealers) and I definitely vouch for them. I also notice when the AA or RAC can not restart a break down they transport the immobile car to Reliance, which certainly speaks volumes about their integrity and quality of work. Also whether you are inexperienced in mechanical matters (man, woman or minor) they never rip customers off with superfluous work, but remain courteous. I should get a life-long discount after all this summary!!
