Hi plbrownimperial,
As KillerHERTZ has already stated above, it sounds very much like your alarm system is in its infancy of imminent failure. Classic symptoms of the circuit board being contaminated by leakage from the internal NiMH battery. Unfortunately, like every type of secondary battery, they eventually deteriorate and leak over time, and in the process, damage the PCB within the alarm unit.
You could possibly wait and see if it deteriorates any further (very likely it will) or have it checked out by a competent auto electrician. Alternatively, disconnect the electrical plug yourself at the rear of the alarm unit and then try and lock the vehicle again, if the indicators don’t flash, then you have your answer.
I had the alarm unit replaced on my CL last year for very similar reasons – if unchanged, then over the subsequent coming months the alarm will start to go off on its own.
Best Regards,
