Indy in Herts/Beds

Prestige Motors letchworth have the STAR machine and recently changed my EGR valve but the car has developed another fault so not sure if I can recommend them. They charge around £60 for a STAR diagnosis

Harpenden motors in Luton, I spoke to the chap and he uses autologic not STAR but apparently it's just as good. He charges £35 for a basic diagnosis.

Andy@EC is on this forum, he's based in Harrow but haven't tried him yet.

I think I may need a new main battery, I started a thread here.......

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/173835-2009-w164-ml320-diesel-car-battery.html

I had no issues until yesterday when the car refused to turn over and wouldn't start, I called the RAC who jump started the car and after inspecting the battery noted it was produced in 2008 and recommended it be replaced.

As said in the other thread, my 2006 battery is still going strong. I don't think a battery should be replaced preemptively based on age.

There is a simple load test that any car electrician can carry out, it involves connecting a load tested across the terminals, and then repeating the test 30 minutes later to see if there is any significant performance drop.

Said that... the battery will need replacing at some point, and if you are happy to do this now then this is also fine. My point is that age alone is not necessarily a factor.
