I have 2009 blue efficiency 220 E class and the engine diagnostic light is on
I took it to my independent garage and they told me to take it to Mercedes as this is an injector faulty problem
Any advice please?

Welcome to the forum, look on the site for details of Mercedes indie garages they will have a star diagnostic machine and will be able to help at far less £ than going to mb.

Sounds like it should be done under recall, thats why your Indie has asked you to take it to the dealer.

Just wait for the free health check though where they tell you your car needs X thousands spending on it.

@pimsap
That's right he told me that it should be repaired under recall for blue efficiency model
I called Mercedes and they told me to bring the car for adjustment or change of the controller of the injectors for free but if they need to change the injector I need to pay!!!!

Can anyone advise me what is your opinion on what Mercedes dealer is saying?
Thanks

I'm guessing that at almost 5 years old the MB dealer is going change some parameter in the ECU which will prevent the ECU from flagging up an error. This might be done by changing the "out of range" injector parameters that cause the ECU to flag up a problem. If this is the case it merely postpones the evil day when the injectors will have to be changed but does stop the engine warning light from coming on? :dk: They did a similar thing with the M272 engine timing gear issues at one point. What you need to do is to find out exactly what the fix is proposed by the MB dealer.

If it has the old system without leak off pipes it will be replaced.
No mb dealer would swerve it! The dealers were having to carry out so many of these recalls at one time that it was inevitable some would escape through the net.
If it has the old style system mb will replace it

Delphi were the biggest looser, MB would have claimed from them any losses due to incorrect manufacturing, then with MB loosing customers over reliability issues.

You should be looked after by MB ......

It would be interesting to know if your car has a full MB service history and if this affects MB's position on replacement/goodwill. Please let us know for future reference. Thanks.

I will keep the forum updated

Very disappointed
I took the car to Watford (Hertfordshire ) dealer after they confirmed the car is for recall and that it will take 3 days to fix
I met there someone introduced himself to me and was very arrogant he told me he has to check if this recall apply to my car first
I explained that his colleague confirmed this to me and told me they ordered some parts for the injectors and that it will take 3 days to fix
He called me next day saying the recall apply to my car and all the injectors need change and that they ordered it but this will take 4-5 days so he recommended me to collect the car and wait for his call and all will be done for free
I refused and explained that I am happy for them to keep the car until it is fixed
The next day he told me good news! The parts are here and the car will be ready after 2 days
I was contacted by them next day saying 2 tyres need to be changed and I agreed to change them
Today I went to collect the car after work . He gave me a receipt and I paid for the 2 tyres
I assumed the change of injectors will be mentioned and because I was tired after long day at work I did not look in the receipt
Of course nothing on the receipt about the injectors !!!!
I am really worried they have not done anything
Please advise me what to do ?
I am going back to the tomorrow morning
Please give me your opinions before tomorrow morning
Thank you

Keep it to one thread mate, you have started another thread on this

Its quite possible that because the injectors were changed under warranty this swould not be included in any invoice as it was FOC [ free of charge] Don't go in with all guns blazing just ask politely exactly what injector work was done on your car?- you need to know this for your records
Questions to ask.
1 were all the injectors replaced?
2 what type was used -- the old piezo type--- or the new solenoid type
3 if they were the new solenoid type was a full upgrade injectors/ecu/wiring/fuel return pipes done.

You won't get any paperwork for warranty work. I never have.

If you want reassurance then take it to your trusted Indie and pay them for an examination where they can tell you what appears to have been done.

Don't expect them to do it for nothing but shouldn't cost much.

I never got anything when they done my brake light switch on a recall.

Apart from the astranomical health check lol

Thank you everyone for your very helpful opinions
I start thinking that my revisit to MB will not be very fruitful and I feel it is better not to go to see them this morning
If I feel any problems while driving in the future I will go to my independent garage to check if they actually changed anything or not

So

Your engine lights off now, no more problems, did they do the work, of course they did its in their interest to do so they don't do it for free they claim from MB for all recall warranty work.

As you have a mistrust of the dealer it seems, go to another one and see if the warranty works been done on their MB dealer system.

Most MB owners just nod backing out of the service reception area waving their arms up and down saying "I'm not worthy" and take all they are told as gospel.

If your not happy go back and ask them directly.
