c220 cdi w203 2003
Hi new to the forum and only had my first merc for4 months. Already junked the becker traffic pro (by junked i mean ebay it) and installed full media centre incl bluetooth TV etc...

I have just got this MERCEDES BENZ CLK SPEEDO DASH CLOCKS TURBO DIESEL on eBay (end time 28-Mar-11 19:20:20 BST)

and wondering if anyone know what needs if anything to get it to work.
I understand I may need to do somthing with the fuel sender? or steering controls?

The car is w203 c220 CDI SE A(year 2003) on a 03 plate.

Welcome to the forum.

The picture on eBay is an AMG instrument pannel, probably from a C55, it clearly says 'AMG' and V8' so I doubt if it came from an SLK 'Turbo Diesel'.

Is your car the facelift model i.e. has the two-dials instrument panel similar to the one in the picture?

Welcome to the forum, great choice of car too.

Now, the bad news, I don't believe you'll get that to work properly in your car. I've looked into it before and you're right you may need to replace the fuel sender (although an '03 car 'may' be okay),

The issue you will have will be with the mileage, as this isn't a new unit it will just show --------. As far as I know you can only have the mileage coded on a new cluster (or one with less than a specified mileage, IIRC it's about 1000 km or miles).

Good point I hadn't noticed that! They've probably used the wrong image. Anyway, as I posted I don't believe you can get a used cluster to display the correct mileage.

Thanks for the fast replys! I have a friend of a friend that can "sort" the mismatch of the milage if I can get it to work properly in the car in the first place. The car is on a 100k and I would have it put back to that. Already gave the milage when I got it to the DVLA,

I have pre-facelift dials the one with revs on the left a stupid large speedo and fuel on the right, also a drab orange display in the middle.

I know its not going to be plug and play, I accept that But just wondering what kind of things I might need to overcome.

Thanks

In principal, pre-facelift W203 cars can be converted to have the post-facelift instrument cluster, there are several threads regarding this on this forum and on others, especially in connection with COMAND retrofit.

Yeah great catch, I just emailed him for the correct pic.

Received it today, Although The part numbers says its a diesel clock its not. No glow plug light. Anyway pluged it in and started the car.

Everything works fuel gauge does not bounce as i was half expecting it to. You was right about the milage not displaying but I will get that sorted. now the only problem is the case it sits in does not fit my car. The surround that makes it fit snug in the dash did not come with it. I went to MB dealer in stockport and the parts man looked confused when I shown him what i wanted, anyway £112 for the part so I think Im going to have to cut out the plastic and try to butcher it to fit

Been testing it a little more. No warning when seatbelt is not in even though the light comes on at ignition 2, also no warning if the key is left in and the drivers door is open. Im guessing I may need to get features turned on?

Anyone know someone with the Star computer thing so I can get some features enabled? I live in Stockport not too far from Manchester
