Is anyone else on here with Hastings insurance that has had a stage one remap and disclosed it to them.
Renewed my insurance on Friday for on my CLS which I've been thinking about having remapped.
Just out of intrest I asked if I was to go ahead with the remap
what would the premium be.
After a few questions I was informed that Hastings would not insure the car.
Thought it would go up a few quid but not a outright No cover.

I use them, as does my mate who built one G wagen from scratch.. and modified and insured several others with them..
They mirrored my Full 17 years NCD from my G wagen onto my second car an SL55 AMG- premium £300 pa with 5000 miles.

Some companies will only insure standard cars - any kind of mod and they're not interested. Of course a fair few people just don't declare 'invisible' mods anyway. Some years back Direct Line said they would no longer cover our Vito if I changed the wheels.

The price comparison websites (Meerkat etc.) are pretty handy as you can input any mods there, and you only get quotes back for companies that are OK with them.

Agree with this. I was with Privilege a while ago and they insured mine up to a maximum increase of ~20% in power. Once I went above this (considerably) I had to change brokers and A Plan come up with the correct policy with all mods (engine, transmission, exhaust etc) at a very competitive price. Not only that but you get to speak to humans unlike so many insurance companies nowadays, which is an added bonus in the event of a claim.

Still with them now as they were the best ones for my current motor. :)

Declining to insure modified (in any way) cars is not unusual now.

I found Keith Michaels to be a better price than A Plan for modified car insurance when calling around recently

Cant you cancel your policy , its only been a few days , and go to someone more amenable to your requirements . I have listed every mod (inc remap) with Admiral with minimal additional increase in premium.

I'm with LV and they accepted all my modifications. Good price too!
