Burning Fuel = Carbon MONOXIDE not CO2 - Reader comments at The New York Sun

If you try to kill yourself by sticking a hose in your exhaust pipe, you die from carbon MONOXIDE poisoning. Let me give you some basic 7th grade science on the burning of fossil fuel. You car engine takes in AIR (O2) and fuel (C). It gets mixed in the cylinder and ignited, burning off 1 Oxygen molecule. So you are left with 1 oxygen molecule (O) and 1 Carbon molecule (C) leaving you with carbon monoxide (CO). It is scientifically impossible for CO2 to result from the burning of any fuels because all fires burn 1 oxygen molecule (you must have oxygen to have fire, thats what burns). Yet the news and Governments want you to believe that the CO2 that is collecting in the atmosphere is from the burning of fossil fuels and they want to tax us on the air we breath. Welcome to Roman-Nazi Earth.

Funny that an engine might produce CO2 then isn't it.

CO results from incomplete combustion. You don't get quite as much energy as you do if you get CO2. CO emissions from cars have been dropping relative to CO2 as engines have become more efficient. Modern cars produce several times more CO2 than CO.

I presume trying to kill yourself using car exhaust has, as a result, become rather more tedious and difficult than it was two or three decades ago.

I wonder if he's just come back from an all-day tasting at the local distillery.

Damn! And its more expensive as well with the price rise...

Indeed, the usual result is feeling awful, then lots of vomiting and double incontinence, which just gets worse. When blood appears at both ends people mostly give up, and suffer a massive 48 hour hangover and an inability to sit without embarrassment!*

*According to a friend of mine who is a casualty doctor.

This sound like the best purge ever...

lots of vomiting and double incontinence.
Wot a waste :p

you can just as easily die from co2 poisoning
