I have just bought C220 Elegance and cant figure how to fold the back seat down
Its mentioned in the handbook and doesnt describe it as optional
Is it possible my seat doesnt fold down at all?
Or hopefully im just not seeing the catches

Mine doesn't fold down and I didn't think they did. Is yours an estate?

They were an optional extra.

If you check the prefix (I think) of the handbook it says that all instructions may not be applicable to all cars. Or words to that effect.

Its a saloon but the manual shows fold down rear seats and doesnt specify any particular model/exemptions

My last few saloons all had fold down rear seats and I did take it as "the norm" and if it doesnt its a very serious limitation and would have been a deal-breaker

How long have you owned the car?

I agree but it's quite a rare option. Most German saloons only offer folding rear seats as an option.

Our W203 doesn't have them, we've had a W202 with them (remember spotting it at purchase time and figured it was a bonus!). I've also had an E60 5 series saloon and that also doesn't get folding seats.

Our old W203 did have them because we specified it as an extra when it was ordered. Was pleasantly surprised to find them standard on the W209

Was the car advertised as having folding rear seats?
