Is it time for new wheel bearings?

Hi.

I had some play in the front wheel bearings on my W203 Coupe , I tightened them up last year and it worked fine.
Car is due for MOT soon , I checked the front wheels for play and I found quite a bit.

Still no noise from bearings just play , should i re-tighten or replace?

Last time when I tightened them I noticed that the surface of the bearings is showing some wear and copper is showing.

Think you will need to replace,I always years ago adjusted wheel bearing once and then I renewed them,and so you are at the same place.

How many miles on the car OP ?

124k , unfortunately the previous owner fitted front discs on a rusty hub and warped them , might have affected wheel bearings.

Tighten them too much they don't last 500 miles.

I will tighten a bit leaving a minute amount of play , get it through MOT then maybe replace the bearings
