Is my tank half full?

Well, I have finally braved going below the half tank line - all good so far (Even though its not massively under the mark yet). Have a 5 litre can in the boot just in case...

mine has never gone above quarter tank, and that is because the wife says that is all she can afford to put in.
She drives around until the warning light shows, then fills back up to quarter. lucky the garage is two streets away, so she does not go out of her way.
now when we travel, i fill it up to the brim and if we are enroute to london, the needle does not move an inch until we are well into milton keynes, then it rapidly drops down to almost half tank when we get to east london.
its like it takes a while to register you are using fuel, then when it realises, it takes all the readings at once

But when you "fill up" you are not filling more than just the tank full, you are including the filler neck aswell? So it will stay on full for longer....then drop down as normal?

Mine seems okay on that side - if I fill it to the brim it does take a little longer to start moving, but not much.

The only downside is when I really plant the right foot on the motorways and I can almost watch the needle move :(

For a 1.8 litre car, it can really drink when it wants to!

I think I overfilled mine a bit last fill, it was right up to the cap and holding there. It went 130 miles before it dropped at all.:)

it is a heavy car, at least mine is with the wife. shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

When I filled up the Coupe I had just bought for the drive home, I managed to spill a good few pence worth on the car and the floor. Duh!
