Hi, ive had my wheels re-furbed about 3 weeks ago, and this week ive noticed all the wheels have these scratches (shown in photo). Any idea how this happens? And was it avoidable?20230616_113154.jpg

That could be from anything including stones, washing etc

Is that something that will naturally happen then? I take my car to a detailing guy and hes pretty good. I can imagine its stones but i see a lot of cars and people seem to keep their wheels in good nick. Not sure what ive done wrong.

Probably,

But equally could be something thats brushed past or a bit of debris in a wheel brush etc

Frustrating but these things happen. Your detailer may be able to remove or disguise the scratches, then give the wheels a sealant. Scratch in the pic doesn't look too deep.

Hi , I had my wheels refurbished a few months ago and have similar marking.

Sorry to say it's the luck of the draw.

It's just a pity that Mercedes don't seal the paint finish for UK roads.

I live in Portugal most of the year and most wheels on older cars appear fine.

Did you go over them closely when they were done? That could have happened when they refitted the wheel and tyre

It could be that the wheels were painted and the paint and lacquer didn't fully dry (or even applied incorrectly?), resulting in damage to the paintwork from contact with objects that shouldn't normally damage proper wheel paintwork. Is this your concern?
