Looks like its a switch that screws into rear bumper and when it gets pushed in you know you are up tight to something or am i way of track?

No , it's like a mini aerial , it pops up out of the top of the wing , so you can see where the corner of the car is when you are reversing ...

Should be one on each side.

No, these are the old aerials that sit on the rear wing tips and automatically rise (just like radio aerial) when reversing...they help reverse parking.

These are very common on Japanese domestic market cars, Iv seen them on Mitsubishi FTO's, MX5's etc that have been imported.

My old Boss's S500L had these as an option.

These mini antennas were only seen on early produstion cars. On later models this feature was replaced by parktronic
