Wife called to say she'd had a crash. Sent shivers down my spine worrying. But she wasn't hurt, she said.

It was only a few miles away so I dashed off and collected her. Tears and apologies in abundance.

Car front end and wing look cosmetically messy - a garage will have to get it on ramps to look at the suspension and other mechanicals.

Makes me realise the perspective of things when you receive such calls.

Hopefully she'll drive a little slower from now on.

Next need to work out whether it's an insurance job or not.

Sorry to hear your news but as you say it's only metal. I am glad you wife is ok those calls are just the worse thing.

Hope you get the car back on the road soon.

Yes i know how you feel, when Anna wrote off MB Brenford's new C-Class. Glad she is okay. It is a shock when you get the phone call.

Glad she is ok, that's the main thing, it is only metal after all.

Glad also she's fine. It is funny how you react. My wife has had two minor incidents this year...but she was fine too, and never a thought about the car from me...strange.

Wife is all fine now, thanks.

Could have been a lot worse.

Hope all is well and, as you say, it's only a metal box that can be fixed up again.

Your title sums it up perfect, metal can be replaced, loved one can't.

Glad she is OK :thumb:

I'm not expecting structural damage. She didn't hit anything head-on, it was just a ditch in the grass verge that put a large vertical load through that corner, breaking all things plastic and maybe bending the track control arm - fingers crossed.

Well that's good news. I had worked out she had done a bit of inadvertent "off roading" from the mud on the tyre sidewall. If its anything like other Audi's of that vintage the whole front bumper+ front panel assembly will come off in a one' r

Glad she is ok Will, thats the main thing.

Car wise, the car looks practically unhurt so its a safe wee thing to be in.

Glad your wife came out OK, that's the main thing.

it's only an Audi, atleast it wasnt the merc:D

glad shes ok, as you say its only metal and its done its job of protecting the mrs :)

Thinking back at it and having been back to the corner where it happened I would have hoped the ESP (Audi speak for braking each corner independently to correct over/under steer) would have helped. But I suspect narrow country lanes leaves little time and space for correction and the law of physics have a nasty habit of winning. At least she did roll down the ditch!

Oh well, what's done is done. She's fine, panic over. Will phone the insurance company shortly to get them to trailer the car away. Off on holiday on Tuesday - wishful thinking it'll be done by our return
