I've been busy....until 2024!

Finally, after moving house at the end of September we finally have all the cars clean!

Worst of the lot was the other half's ML, it does make for an excellent family car and living in a more rural area it's getting used every day for taking the kids to school. But it's also been about four months since it was cleaned and it was utterly minging.

This is indicative of the outside:

And this is indicative of the inside:

Having kids is amazing but the mess they make is less so, this is despite having mats down!!

So after a few hours it looks as it should.

The interior always comes up nicely as these rubber mats protect the carpets brilliantly.

Managed to give he CL a nice easy clean as it was largely clean already haha

And finally managed to squeeze in the Saab on Thursday! Despite being cleaned about a month or so ago, I've done plenty of miles into Bristol City and back and forth to Surrey. This wet winter weather does not lend itself to keeping a car clean haha. Utterly grim.

Interior wasn't so bad as it's just me who uses it in the main part and the back rarely gets sat in.

And the outside is looking alright considering it recently ticked over 138k miles.

So all done just in time for my middle ones birthday tomorrow and Christmas!

All looking good Cracking house and garage set up, and a lovely big driveway.

PS The sign of a true petrol head. Even with all that space you couldn’t resist the temptation to push the patio furniture aside so you can squeeze an extra car in

Out of those three it would be the CL, it can technically do everything, handles amazingly for a big car, spacious and I could get the kids in. Would leave the missus at home haha.

Haha yeah I shoved the Saab out the way so I wouldn't get it wet when I was doing the others as that was done first haha.

Shove all the garden furniture out the way. We have a proper garden behind the garage though. It's an odd layout in a way. Front garden, house, patio, parking/garage then back garden behind that. But I cab see the cars from the living room though, so the view isn't all bad haha

Thankfully I'm 20 miles north of Bristol although have ventured in with the Saab. We're actually on the edge of a village that falls under Stroud. Nice and remote although getting used to having a lack of everything on the doorstep! haha

The W216 CL500s are still very elegant cars, look lovely with all the windows down. You had many issues with it? Mine (an '08 car owned from '12 to '19) was starting to annoy me with window drop gremlins, folding mirror hiccups, and a couple of other minor niggles - the hyd. pulse damper failed, but that was surprisngly easy to sort, alternator was another story - a right PIA to change - but it was a very smooth and as you say a good handling car for its size, on the hyd. suspension. Even though mine was the base car it had good grunt, but I always felt it could have been a bit more aggressive, and have better sound. Meant to re-map it and change the back boxes but was working and traveling abroad a lot at the time, so never had the energy to do it. Came close to buying another but chickened out (mainly due to the severe fuel consumption) and got the E400D.

To be fair the CL has been pretty good so far but I'm not using day to day. The last MOT saw it need a few bits but it was the first one in my ownership and I wanted some niggles sorted, so that was £1,200ish.

It's been so far better than the S Class I had prior. That had only done 900 miles in the previous 12 months and I did that in the first 4-5 weeks. That highlighted a fair few niggles to the sum of about £4k within the first 6 months which were fortunately under warranty.

I quite like the pace of the CL500, it's quick enough and quicker than many cars but not intense in the same way a 63 model can feel. I think it suits the car, that said I wouldn't turn down a CL600 haha
