Hi

I own a 1992, W124, 300D, auto. It's great.

There is a slight drone/whine from the rear, but everything "feels" ok and I'll get round to investigating that later.

My problem seems to be that each time, I run over a drain cover, small bump, rumble strip etc, the rear passenger side wheel makes a jingling, rattling sort of noise.

I've checked exhaust mountings, heat shields, suspension components, brake shoes, hub, and so on.

However I can't seem to find where the Morris Dancer is trapped, but he's there...he's definitely there!!!

Do any of you clever chappies have any ideas? :dk:

Cheers

stone in bottom of spring housing, or as Greame says, broken spring.

Try inspecting the shock absorber mounting fasteners. Another possibility is loose items in your boot that may jingle or tingle - giving an impression its coming from the rear road wheels ....

Hi guys

... and I thought the nutters on the Landyzone forum (who help me with the ailments of my 1972 Landy) were all mad... however I see that you guys are the same. I'm going to like being a member of this group.

I will spend some time over the weekend trying these ideas out, and I particularly like the idea that it may be something in the boot!

Cheers

Ken

I had a similar problem in a W123 afew years ago. Having spent good money after bad it was discovered that a few loose tools in the spare wheel well were the culprit. You cant rubbish any suggestions as it boils down to experience
