I have a 1998 w202 c200 sport with the 5 speed auto box. It's done 110,000 miles.

After a 50 mile journey last night I drove into central London and the car started lurching as it changed into second. It also felt funny as it "changed down" (don't know how better to put that). I thought i felt something from the diff as it lurched but I assume that was an effect rather than a symptom
If I'm honest I thought the car had felt odd since I set off but nothing was obvious.
I parked up for three or four hours , cam back to the car and it was fine. No evidence of any problems.
I had the gearbox oil changed in June (probably for theh first time) and fitted a new Air Mass Meter in August.
Any ideas?

doubt it very much, especially as it was fine on the second attempt... typical mas death symptons

Only with a diagnosic machine really as with your air mass too. Thats the proper way of checking.
