Was scrolling through ebay and came across this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....00038540083&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1

Am very happy with the overall condition of the car and the price i fealt was cheap considering its age/mileage/spec. She'll be only doing 1-2k a year so mileage isn't a prob.

My mum had been complaining of the hard ride of the C Class due to the Lorinser suspension so i thought its easier to get her her own car. She'll get a surprise when she gets back from her holiday!

Looks like a bargain to me. Well done.

The story was that she was offered £10.5K PX at MB. On that basis she valued the car at 10.5k, her reserve and a buy it now of £12k. I knew it would sell for more than that on ebay so decided to use buy it now.

Yes its over 3.5K under value... i would expect to pay at least 2.5K more even at auction... If i had seen that!!!

Don't intend on keeping it long, should keep it for a year, can't see it losing too much value!

That's an insult as a px value - maybe the dealer thought the mileage (a tiny bit on the high side) might put people off?
Was the lady still going ahead and buying another Merc anyway?

That does look very cheap - did you go and see it before hitting the "buy it now" button ?

I'm intrigued by the number of people who buy cars blind over the internet.

A good friend of mine was in India on business last year, and he got bored in his hotel room and logged onto eBay.

A couple of hours later he was trying to convince his wife that the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow he'd just bought (blind) was a bargain at £4,500. and how he'd make money using it has a hire car for weddings etc.

The first time I saw it, it looked quite good from about 30 yards away, then we got closer, and noted the sills, the rust on the wings, the bubbling paintwork on the doors and round the windows, the pool of hydraulic fluid leaking out from somewhere, the odd rip in the leather upholstory......

After driving it around for a couple of weeks it's now gathering dirt on his front drive, needing about £800 spending on the brake system to make it roadworthy!

it does happen a lot... ive been offered cars for a couple hundred quid more than the dealer has offered them and they have been absolute bargains...
but then this does seem toooo cheap...

anyway, hope its all ok...

I sent Simal (forum member aka$h) to go have a look for me first. I'm hesitant as well, never know what you're buying! But then again if it is misdescirbed, there's nothing stoppin you from walking away.

Its owned by some posh woman, who's owned it form new. All bills, MBSH etc all there, amazing condition, light marks on the bumper, overall a very nice car.

What a very nice son you are, excellent.

So it wont be modded? :D

De-modded more like it. Might put some steel wheels on, saves the refurb costs!

Its really just going to be used for the small town runs, so not much point. And besides i won't be driving it!

The CAP clean value on it was £13,950. A friend of mine work in the disposal deparment of a large leasing company and apparently the SLK is selling well below book at the moment. Main reason for this being that the guides are based on a 3 monthly average and with the weather turning so fast dealers just dont want to pay book money for them and have them sitting around for 6months.
Last week at BCA Enfield, a slk200 Tip, 22k Yreg sold for £10,600.
This was still a bargain tho!

It looks very nice indeed - nicely specced to! Some expensive non standard extras on there - leather seats, heated and leccy. Those alloys are extra cost options too so a nice deal all round.

You might want to consider colour coding the grille. Makes a massive difference to the overall look:rock:

As far as I know Silver Shadows were made from aluminium, how did it manage to rust like that?
I could be wrong of course...
