If your key fob is broken, the correct option is not buying a new one, but two. One should never accept a single key only.

If it starts your car OK when the alarm has been disarmed, then it could also be the remote key receiver at the car. Even that would be unlikely if it does not work via the RF port nor via the IR port (did you aim at the IR receiver at the door?).

Television would give good advice on fixing the key if it turns out to the issue (you can search for his previous posts on keys).

thanks for the replies, no it doesn't start the car when battery is disarmed and no the IR doesn't show when looking through a digi camara

Well you are going to have to buy one new one, if you care to post the old one to me, I will see if I can fix it for you

Im going to ring MB at milton keynes on tuesday would that be the cheapest place, i dont doubt your abilities have you fixed a few before

Thanks for your help I'll ring MB and sort a new one and get back in touch about sending my old one to see if you can fix it if thats ok with you

is there a common fault on the circuit board, a bit of carbon was loose that was covering a component rectangle shape, could this mean any thing

the coil is still on, its from the bit near the white plastic fastner and the top button if looking at your pic

it doesnt start the car or open/lock it, i'll just have to get a new one is 150 a fair price

it just looks like a cover for the component, ive held it on with the batteries connected too
