hello,

last couple of days, ive randomly got a "key not detected" red warning on the dash of the CLS.

now its happened a couple of times about a couple of minutes into driving.

Is this a sign of a low keyfob battery or something else?

Quite possible battery's are not as expensive as getting locked out and stranded, also don't put cheap one's in get something like Duracell with a long date code on packaging.

As above, its the remote batteries. (2 if you have keyless).

I sometimes get that message if the car is started on the keyless button but the keys are in my jacket on the back seat. Wave the key near the ignition and the message disappears.

Mine is keyless and only has one battery.

Should have got a message warning you that the battery was running low.

Got a feeling my 04 model is older than yours and the reason you only have the one battery.
I get "Key not detected" when the remote battery is low (or key out of range of the ignition)

Just put the key into the ignition slot like the rest of us peasants :D
