Keyless Go

Yes I had it in the W220 and have it in the W215.

I don't see the point with the new system. With the old system you put the credit size card in your wallet very neat.

The new system you have to carry the key, you might as well put the key in the ignition. That's the reason I didn't spec it in the new S-Class.

My old fiesta had keyless go and I loved it, couldn't justify almost a thousand pounds to have it on my C Class. You do get used to having it and I still find myself trying to open the doors without pressing the button on the key fob.

I was shocked to find a 62 plate discovery 4 has a keyless go system that you have to use the button on the handle. Unlike the W220 where you can just touch any part of the handle to unlock...

Just trying to find out what thoughts are towards Keyless Go option.
Reason being was going to option new shooting brake with option and dealer said could not remember last time anybody had specced car with this option...

Shocking:confused:

I personally love it and could not manage without it:thumb:

what other options are you specifying?

I recommend airmatic and a sun roof, teak railed floor could be good too

Still deciding but probably all the above but shocked at the fact that as usual main dealers have no real clue about what options ie keyless is still in demand:fail

Depends on costs. Many options no vehicles are relatively expensive for what they actually are.

I like keyless go. But it's not worth more than at most £50
extra to me. Above that number they can stuff it. I'll stick they key in the barrel and turn it.

Same goes for a whole list of stuff. eg. memory seats are nice to have. But the money they usually want over and above electric seats is just silly IMO. Again anything more than £50 and I'm happy to fiddle with the seat manually.

Each to their own I guess, but being in a position to finance a £50K+ car, another few £k getting exactly what you want is % wise not significant, even though in £ note terms it can make you wince!

I consider myself very lucky to have got a year old ex promo car that had nearly everything I wanted, except the sun roof. The lack of this does make for a rather cave like interior, and had I not been so 'cost conscious', would have deffo fronted for a new model with this specced. But hey-ho, life's a compromise sometimes.

(One feature the shooting brake designers should definitely have considered is a panoramic roof, like on the Peugeot 508, would have looked and functioned so well)

Problem with some of us is that justifying sticking an extra few K on the car kind of gets me thinking about what else it could be spent on - like going for a better engine or a better car.

I think it comes down to perception of value. Eg. buying a E250 and loading it up with kit suits some people whereas others might prefer to defer on the options and go for a less well equipped E350.

In some cases this can get silly at £50K+ where financing a car + options may well be more expensive than some more interesting alternative model options.

And if looking at older cars then things get confused because the value of options on the used market is usually lower - but finding a car spec'ed with some of the more unusual ones if that's what you're after may be a matter a of luck.

I agree to an extent, but some options are extremely useful for the right customer.

I'd never have another car without memory seats. My wife uses the car a lot and when we got the 209 CLK it was a nightmare as she would adjust the seat and mirrors so far fron my position it was a seriously time consuming job getting the position just right.
When I started looking for a W220 it was one of the only things on the wish list.

Some people have use of a ski hatch or a garage door opening mirror. ..not me, but to the right man they're seriously valuable.

For me, I like having soft close doors and boot. It just seems very Mercedes-like to just gently push them too & let the pneumatics do the rest.

My grandad had key less go on one of his old cars it was called a cranking handle i think?:thumb:

Tony.
