I always try to point out to a potential purchaser to ensure 2 keys come with the car, otherwise negotiate a £150 discount.

Good advice indeed, which I took heed of.

Also, it is a sensible precaution to take your spare with you when you go away on holiday and put it somewhere safe (NOT in the car!)

P.S. Some useful info on keys here, see the second half for electronic keys (this implies that you can unblock a key if you have the green key for the EIS unit - see page 21).

Thanks for the info, it looks as though getting the missing key blocked and then buying an additional key might solve my problem?

Assuming the car is coming with us we always take a spare set of car and house keys away - loosing a set when the others are 100s of miles away is not good.

Trouble is the fire aways starts too late.

Auctions are a bit of a pain for this, it's always a bit of a lottery how many keys will come with car and you can't find out beforehand, so is a case of fingers crossed...

I think our previous owner is alright and an educated guess says that he's got enough money already. The key is "somewhere in the house" (his words) so it's probably ok. Still like to disable it though...

Think thats a good idea, i dont like the idea of another key being somewhere, and still live for my car. Time to invest in a new key fob.
