Knock, knock, Knock, who's there???

Good Morning all.
I have an 2004 W211 E320 CDI. that has just recently developed unusual gremlin, after every start and at about 500yards distance there is a Tap Tap Tap ( normally three ) coming from the passengers side door area, it sounds like someone tapping on the window with a coin, no fault lights, and no other unwanted noises. I would be most gratefull if any of our forum members can help identify this unwanted noise.

Could it possibly be the electric window motors faulty?

Could it be something to do with the auto door locking function in that door?

Thanks, I have tried switching the auto lock off, but no difference.

Thanks for the reply, suppose next step is to remove the door cover and try to isolate where the noise is coming from.

Maybe try with windows open see if its anything to do with the motors in the windows? Maybe a dodgy connection with relays or something.

p.s. not including taking the coin away from the Gremlin, what else will he have to play with. lol
