Leather Cleaner

Chaps,
Does it really impart a genuine long lasting leather aroma to tough old Mercedes hide?

Gliptone is very good, however I've been using these guys products for the last 12 months and find it very effective.
The do a concentrate for cleaning heavily soiled areas, but for a quick once over the sell "quick wipes" impregnated with the same cleaner stuff. The leather smell is very nice.

Might be worth comparing prices.

Thought i would report back on results i had this weekend with gliptone...

Leather in my car was dirty, but not very. Quite a few creases in the usual places and some small cracks starting to appear on sides of seats.

Followed instructions carefully, wiped down with a damp cloth first, then applied shampoo (stired using a nail brush) left for 5 minutes and wiped with a damp cloth. Leaving the shampoo on for more then 5 minutes will make the seats sticky and harder to wipe the shampoo off.

Still seeing dirt esp in cracks, applied another coat, stired it in, then restired and wiped. Left for an hour till everything dried up.

Applied conditioner (make sure the cloth doesn't soak up most of the conditioner - used my fingers to apply it). Conditioner smells great! - worked it in, and then after another 2 hrs applied a second coat.

Results:
Seats are cleaner, but not very noticeable on seats which are not very dirty to begin with. The creases, unlike pics on gliptone website which closed up, remained on my seats. The little ventilation holes in the leather do get in the way though - perhaps they make it harder to notice the difference.

The shampoo did make some difference, it took away some of the dullness from the seats and cleaned up the grime in the cracks, but didn't make the huge difference i was expecting.

The conditioner has worked quite well, leaving the leather soft and subtle. Seats smell great, but the smell does disappear. To keep it, leave a rag with the conditioner inside the car... the smell will then remain for longer. Did find that the shininess was restored by conditioner. I didn't want the leather shiny, i wanted it like new!

Conclusion:
Worth the £12! - would work better had my seats been really filthy. But don't think the cleaner will restore your seats to a 'like new' finish.

anybody have perforated leather on their seats and can recommend a leather cleaner that is clear? Tend to end up with a lot of white dots on mine when I use the MB stuff lol

I've got perforated black seats in my SL. I keep a wooden toothpick in the car to get rid of stray white dots as and when I spot them - the seats were last cleaned (by the dealer) 12 months ago!

I use a toothpick too, it's just a pain in the **** having to do it.

I use zymol leather care, nourishes the leather well and leaves a nice satin finish afterwards. Great product.

Spray on..leave for 5 min, then wipe off with a m/fibre cloth.

Zymol leather cleaner (available in larger Halfords) good stuff, no residue at all!
