Lets see your AMGs

Woke up this morning, pulled the blinds and noticed my neighbour has a new car. Nice way to start 2025 🙂

Are you sure it's theirs? I'm asking because of the private plate but I'm aware used cars can come with the plate. You sound a bit like me, when I see a good car in our little road, that pleases me as it's easy on the eye and makes the street look better. This is unlike our next-door neighbour the make-half who gets jealous and never says you've got a new car/etc but bangs on about what he had. The time I really knew he was jealous when my gle
went in for under warranty repair and he said "so you've got a silver car now.." He meant as we had talked cars in the past that black cars were my fave as well as favs of our children, so he tried to make me feel beaten, lol. It was an E class with pan roof etc the loan car -- you should have seen his face when I told him it was a curtsey car and he walked back to his front door,. However, on the hole they are ok and we always see hi but his wife is nice and polite.

The car looks the business but the one I sat in at the showroom years ago felt like a shed door when I closed the door - there was a bit on the G class on video vlog/youtbue mechanics that specialises in MB's the other day - he too mentioned these cars are clearly not the best drives for MB and pre 2019 cars were not good at all but big change in 2019 and having said that, myself and the mechanic both would not mind having one of those gracing our or neiglbiurs drives.

Must be a pain living next door to the local drug dealer.....:D
Personally I think most people who like them have never driven one more than a few miles....agricultural does not cover it!
Personally I don't even like the looks of the later ones....they jusy scream premiership player or rapper with lots of cash and no taste.... the earlier more simply designed ones look much better to my eye.

???? When I was sellng cars we always transferred the plate off the previous car to the new one before collection....same as when I had one...it was transferred to the new car whilst being prepped for collection.

Definitely true of the previous generation, but the current generation (2018+) is a world away from that. Wind noise is much improved over the previous generation but is still noticeable when you first drive one at high speed.

I doubt it'll ever be taken off road, I think the biturbo is too fragile for off roading, something will probably break under rough conditions. Best kept for image and cool factor 😎

Agree, the most off roading that will do, is bouncing up the kerb. Probably driven by the Wife, on the School run. 😉 🙂👍

True....like the new Defender.... not a patch on the old one and very fragile off road. Much better on road of course.....but that was not the old ones audience. Some of the local farmers I know had one when they first came out....most have gone back to a good, used late PROPER Defender. To fragile inside and out for everyday farm life, to much electrical trickery to break.......to much Made in Chelsea....not enough Emmerdale!

and that's why I asked as often is the case, used cars or brand new cars do not normally come with a private plate, hence the question, "are you sure it is their car" ie next door.

A nephew od Mrs MSG sold his clk 320 years ago with an F11 plate on it, not sure if it was priced in or thrown in.

My last 3 buys, 2 used, one year old cars and a brand new gle, the private plate went on a couple of months after purchasing the cars and the new gle, I waited just over 12 months.

Re used cars, buying from a main dealer, or MB dealer in my case, not worth the trouble of changing plates from day one as the car may turn out to be a lemon and you may want to reject it. I bought the two used MB's both about a year old, sight unseen ie over the phone and gle was made to order.
