Hello

Just got a 9mth old R320CDI with Linguatronic buttons on the steering wheel.

Pressing the button on the steering wheel has not effect

I can't figure out how to use it - in the Command user manual, there is supposed to be menu selection under the SERV button, but mine doesn't show up.

I am right to assume that if there are Linguatronic buttons on the steering wheel that is has been fitted, or do they all come with the buttons, even if not fitted?

Any suggestions woudl be welcomed.

Thanks

Linguatronic is an option, the wheel will come with the buttons as standard.

Linguatronic normally has a lever behind the steering wheel on the right hand side.thats the way it is on mine

Welcome to the forum

On the R class it's the centre button in the right-hand cluster on the front of the steering wheel

If you've got the buttons on the steering wheel on the R then, its a not too expensive retrofit. and if you use the car a lot on your own, its nice to have, and you can enter navigation addresses etc.

Alfie can do the retrofit. (pm him on this forum)

It works really nicely on the new ML/GL/R class. Alfie's A class is probably the only A class in Europe with it ;-) Miro's done some A/B in Australia.

[for those really interested. On the ML/GL/R there are 2 buttons in the switch packs on the steering wheel. Standard steering wheels dont seem to have the buttons (certianly in MY2007) unless linguatronic was factory fitted, although they may have all had them in the past, wood/leather wheels seem to have them (certainly in MY2008). The button packs are very expensive, but easy to change. On A/B/C/CLK you have to take the steering wheel off and replace the jacket and the switch mechanism for the cruise control for one with cruise and the linguatronic switch, which is a fiddlyish job and you have to be rather careful with the contact spiral bit for the steering wheel connections]

I can vouch for this, and it works very nicely on the C class too (thanks Alfie & Richard) :D

She is someone to talk too when there is nothing else on :)

And she sounds like she is listening, but just at the important bit you find she wasnt. Which my wife says must mean it is male not female :-(
