Linguatronic Postcodes

Hi Folks -

Quick question re: the use of Linguatronic with the COMAND system. I've looked through the manual and can't seemt o find what I'm doing wrong. If I use Linguatronic to 'Enter Postcodes' it replies that 'postcodes cannot be entered for this country' but I am able to enter a 5 digit postcode manually. Would anyone be able to advise what I'm doing wrong via Linguatronic? I have a brand new C-class picked up last week so I'm assuming all the software is up-to-date.

Also - should my COMAND utilise 7-digit postcodes? It doesn't and wondering why not if this is a brand new car!?

Further to the above, I have been in touch with the dealer who has advised that there are no updates for the C-Class COMAND systems but only for the E-Class. I would have thought updates for COMAND are for the system not the model of car but his tech guy is speaking to MB Head Office apparently to confirm. I have read on a search here that COMAND should now come with 7-digit postcode but still can't get the Linguatronic postcode function to work.

Can anyone confirm if the dealer is correct here? Cheers!

Dealer is correct in that there are different updates for the different models of COMAND - and the one in the W212/W207 is different to the W204.

There is just due a new map update I beleive (which is unlikely to be on your car as its not out yet!) - and there have been firmware updates for the W204 COMAND, but I would imagine those are on your car as its brand new. If you PM me the chassis number i'll find out how new it really is !!

PS. I think you cant do linguatronic postcodes because we have letters in our postcodes, whereas Germany has 5 digit post codes.

.....and my dealer having spoken to Mercedes today have confirmed that the map updates for the W204 and W212 come from 2 different suppliers so there is absolutely no synergy between the two systems. Weird but true. They further said that they know the maps and POI info for the W212 system are inferior to any other Mercedes model and propose doing nothing about it!

Is it Tele-Atlas then? Recently most MB models have been using Navteq but in the past they were using Tele-Atlas, makes it difficult to follow.

W212 is Telatlas. Not sure about W204.
