Little Project for someone.....

I'd like to hear Janner's opinion :)

Is this particular SLC worth restoring?

I have seen quite a few very nice examples all reasonably priced, but I wonder how much the registration number is worth?

Are those the right wheels for the car?

The later SL's that shape certainly had those wheels, the earlier SLC's i believe had the W123 e series wheels .

No, they're not the right wheels. I think it would have had steels with body-colour caps (or maybe the one's Howard suggests).

Is the reg number included? No mention....

Dependant upon what needs doing, it probably isn't worth restoring. Refurb, yes, but not anything major.

If it was a 500, then it might be worthwhile, but even then you're probably not looking at more than £9k in pristine nick. SLC's are not as popular as SL's and will be more expensive to rebuild.

Wheels are wrong, offsets look wrong! Doesnt really say much... could be a bargain if its just a case of some wd40 and a jump start... but somehow, i doubt it...

I take it that's because I love older Mercs?
To be honest it's not my cup of tea. It's the wrong colour (sorry Howard) and it's not pretty enough. It maybe rarer than the soft top version but to me that doesn't make it more desirable.
I'm still in love with 190SLs and Pagodas. I might treat myself to an older weekend toy soon. I also quite fancy an old Bentley.

And also because of your knowledge of these particular vehicles. The pagoda type SL is certainly one of the better looking SL's.

What type of Bentley's do you like and why?

John

To be honest I'm not that clued up on the SLC.

I quite like Bentley Eights although I've go my eye on an S1 (bit like a RR Silver Cloud).
I just fancy something a bit unusual for nice days.

 The old Corniche or Bentley S3 equivalent :)
