Just had the beast in at the garage to diagnose some issues and this is what has come back...

Radiator is p11sing out water
A very small leak behind the cylinder head (gasket has not gone) K seal used
Rear tyres are bald (NOW changed for some part worns for now)
Exhaust is a bit foobarred and will need the baffles sorted.
A wheel bearing may need changing front left.
Stalling still cant diagnose but he thinks it could be a temp sensor.

My life as a MB owner so far has been a little tainted...2 months in and so far I have bought a MAF sensor, Air filter, two tyres, Throttle cleaner etc and still its not perfect. It is such a good drive though and so I will try and get it back to perfect. Dronfields Merc parts here I come.....

good luck buddy, i know the feeling lol

You say you feel ownership has been a bit tainted. As it's only been two months, did you have no concept of the exhaust, radiator or tyres before you bought it?

Funny you should say that but no....Tyres, that was already something I knew about BUT the car ran ace when I test drove it and had it for the first 2 days...then came the rain!!!! It started running and sounding superb and then BANG, the problems have started. I still love the car tho, dot get me wrong. I will try and get it all sorted, I try not to give up on good cars and I see much potential. I just feel like the original owner sold me down the river a touch....especially as he is mechanic and MOTs cars!!!!

I know what you mean. I bought my C230k only earlier this month and whilst nothing major is wrong I have had to sort out the xenon light issue and then one of the front tyres had an 'egg' or bulge in the side wall so always replacing in pairs I've had to buy two new fronts which has obviously set me back a few hundred. BUT you take it on the chin as any 2nd hand car (or new!) will have niggles that are just wear and tear and to be fair, our cars our approx 10 years old but as you say still drive beautifully and I would much rather have this as it has many more gadgets and drives nicer than a basic newer car. Hopefully you can get the niggles sorted and start enjoying it properly. :)

Cheers mate, Im sure I will. I love cars and driving and this is one I am looking at keeping.

Do what I am doing, get the critical jobs done, then work on the niggles as budget allows.

Thats what I am doing mate.

First up is the radiator and wheel bearing, MOT and TAX then its the rest. Will have to move fast on the rust around the rear arch that has suddenly appeared tho....:wallbash:
