i took my 2001 clk cab into a bodyshop last week for stone chip removal and wheel refurb after they had dropped the car off (the manager whom i know did so on his way home) , i took it out to have it washed and noticed a loud clicking noise from the rear and the engine warning light was on. i couldnt contact the garage as they had shut early being saturday. before i phone them and find out what they have to say does anyone have any clues as to what may be causing the noise?
i have 19" brabus replicas on the car which they obviously removed for the refurb is it possible that they caused some damage to the abs sensors on refitting?
about 3 weeks ago i had m and d motortech do a service and mot on the car and also change the lambda sensor, which was causing the ecu light to come on.
any help is greatly appreciated

My assumption is that the bodyshop probably responsible for the rear clicking noise - when driving at 60mph are u getting any vibration etc... ?

Off topic: my Dad's car went to a Stealer's approved bodyshop (R&C Coachworks - Slough) to have an alloy wheel "refurbed" (they actually do "touch ups" only we found out afterwrads as all they do is just respray the wheel without stripping with acid etc. to bare metal...). Upon recieving the car back at 60MPH the rear of the car (from the same side as the refurbed alloy/wheel) started to violently shake/judder. Took it back to bodyshop and they denied it had anything to do with them. In the end it transpired that the cowboys Bodyshop just deflated the tyre/masked it off and painted the wheel without removing tyre. However, the thick b@strads broke the beading on the tyre and the saline that they used to initally clean the alloy got trapped in the tyre and afterwards they just inflated the tyre with air with the saline/liquid still trapped inside the tyre...  Tyre Specialist was horrified and the bodyshop still denied it had anything to do with them....

I bet that the clicking noise has something to do with the Bodyshop upsetting/distrubing something... Do NOT mention to bodyshop that sensor was recently replaced by third party cos they will use that as a get out clause to fob u off....

Possibly an incorrect bolt has been used and is interfering with the handbrake mechanism. Had the same problem on mine a while back when I changed my alloys, the old locking bolt fouled on the handbrake mechanism. But that was a W124, not sure if the same applies here, but just a thought.
