...are now being illuminated by the dip beams on my w210  only noticed last night as I was travelling down an unlit road. The headlights are the xenon type, or bi xenon (how can I tell?) Having searched the forums I see that there's more than one sort of adjustment mechanism depending on which type of lamp unit is fitted, is there a way of finding out just by looking at the lamp units? Advice gratefully received.

Hi

On the pre facelift 210 there is a sensor connected tp the front anti roll bar, just check that this has not become detached. Are both lights at the same angle??

Me too... strangely no one seems to flash me.

Well, just for a change the problem looks like a fairly cheap fix. The switch/sensor thingy is on the back subframe connected to one of the suspension arms by a rod which has come adrift, rusted through the fixing bolt. I've bodged it back on with some cable ties and normal headlamp height has been restored. I might just drill out the end that's broken and put a new bolt all the way through when I get time.
