I'm in U.S. and need a 0m642 to replace my missing one. Everything I find Is high mileage. Any over there?

IIRC the Sprinter used a de-tuned version (around 180 bhp) ... not sure if that would be an issue or not? In other MB models the OM642 produced up to 250 bhp or so (maybe more). Good luck with the search though.

Thank you. I would like the higher hp.if it would bolt into my sprinter without mods. I know the UK version had higher HP than ours. The prices are high here for engines bbc with 300k on them

You're much more likely to find a low mileage one from a different Mercedes model (non-commercial), but I don't know if those would drop straight in to a Sprinter. Not that many Sprinter owners in here but someone may know. It's definitely a pretty tight fit in the front of a Vito so the position/size of the ancillaries might be important if you don't want to start making changes.

Surely the shipping cost to Texas makes it uneconomical?

I’m sure you’ll find something over there eventually out of a lower miles salvage car?

Is there such a thing as a low mileage Sprinter van!! They sell them with Dodge badges on that side of the pond too......any more likely to find one of those?

Mine IS a dodge. I'm scared what a rebuilt one will cost. Hoping for this summer

Reach out to Clay , here is his you tube channel.

I spoke with him when I was working on my engine, he had some brackets he came up with to help re-install the manifolds. very informed guy works on sprinters all the time, he might be your best bet over there.

There's a few motor homes use the Sprinter as a base also, must be some low mileage m/homes and Sprinters written off every year?
