Hi,

MY2008. W204 c220 cdi.

I’ve removed the two floor panel to reveal the lower sump with the drain plug.

There’s another type of cover before getting to the sump (the drain plug is visible).

Anyone know what this cover is called so I can work out how to remove it.

Thanks,
Matt

So I’ve found out it’s called noise encapsulation.

Anyone know best way tips to remove it?

Hello and welcome , If the drain plug is visible and accessible why do you need to remove the cover ? from the look of thhis diagram the shape of this sump woul suggest lowering the front subframe or lifting the engine to remove it.

Any moment someone will be along who has done this job and will advise you.

The other (much used by dealerships , and yours truly) is to leave the drain plug alone and vacuum the oil out.

oil leak somewhere. want to clean and check seal on lower sump.

While you are under there give the rear subframe a VERY close inspection , you are looking for cracks and corrosion , becoming a common failure on C class W204. Often not easy to spot as it rots from within. If you are unaware of this there is plenty info on here and the wider web.
