Hi everybody,

It has been a long time since I mounted 17" wheels on my W124.
Yet,I am not satisfied of the look since there is way too much space between the fenders and tires.
A few months ago,my car mechanic mounted lower springs.Nevertheless,I want the car to go lower.
From stock,my car has got shock spacers.Maybe it's because my country had uneven roads in the past that the Mercedes factory mounted spacers.
Here is my question...
Would it be bad if I remove those spacers to lower my car?

Thanks :)

What would the shock spacers have to do with the lowering?

I do not know whether they are called "shocks spacers"
But I know there are "spacers" which are mounted to make the car stand higher.

Don't , when I bought my car the previous owner had lowered it and it was awful. I have put it back to normal and the ride is now how Mercedes designed it to be.

I think the "shock spacers" the OP is referring to are the rubber cup bushes fitted on the springs.

If these are the same as the W126 they are available in a number of different thicknesses and set the ride height of the vehicle.

I had the back ones changes on my SEC to level the car and stop it looking like the back was slightly jacked up.

Do W124's have a similar set up?

I have ordered thinner rubber cup bushes.
In a week I will be fitting them on my car.
When opting for thinner cups, what is recommended to be changed?

Thanks

That was my first thought, yep 124s have the same rubber cups for fine tuning ride height. Thickness is denoted by the number of 'bumps' (nibs) on them, 1 - 4 with 4 being the thickest.

OP, if you want the thing to ride and handle properly dampers (shocks) need to be matched to the springs. Overall length and stroke length of dampers are important and with a proper kit* the damper valving will be different to match the spring rate

* I forget what's what but someone else will confirm... Something like a Bilstein B4 kit is similar/equivilant to the 'sportline' set up? The sport chassis set up is low enough that you don't have 'on stilts' arch gaps without being so low that ground clearance becomes an issue (although having said that there are still some speed humps around Sarf London that mine will ground on if i straddle them

Thanks for the help people.
I will soon be posting pictures once the lowering is done.
