W213 Premium plus night edition
Hi, new member and first time poster here!

I bought this gem of a car back in July this year, I had a 58 plate W204 220d sport before so this was a massive upgrade! It’s my absolute pride and joy. It’s an E220 AMG line premium plus night edition, 20 plate and bought it with only just 10k on the clock. So yeah, very happy 😊

I’ve got a few ideas of what I’d like to do so I’ve joined this forum hoping to get some help and advice moving forward and getting these plans into action!
So here goes….Basically the pic below is how I want mine to look, That stance is exactly what I want. I’m in love with the wheels and it’s sits just right. Looks so good if I could get that on mine I’d be over the moon but I don’t want to bankrupt myself in the process!

So firstly, what wheels are they? Are they E63 wheels? Also where is a good reputable seller? I want it to look good but I don’t want to spend 10k on wheels from MB!

Secondly, lowering. Would a set of springs work on mine? Am I looking at coilovers? And spacers too, recommendations on those? And size, I was guessing at 20 mm again?

bit of a long post for a first one so sorry about that, my mrs says I waffle on all the time 😂
Cheers all, James

Hi James, welcome to the forum:thumb:
That is a very tidy looking wagon you have picked up . Well done.

The alloys in your other photo are indeed from a W213 E63 and are pretty expensive
With tyres they are over £4500. Main dealers are your best bet if you can't find a used OE set on eBay.

You can get decent copies on eBay for a fraction of the price though.

Re lowering. Do you have rear air suspension?
If so you can use adjustable lowering links (around £80) on the rear and replace the front springs with H&R or Koni adjustables.
If you use spacers, get hub centric ones from a reputable company like H&R with Mercedes fitment.
Don't forget longer wheel bolts too.

Been doing a bit of research regarding lowering my present vehicle (Cayenne) and if your car has various front facing cameras and sensors they may need re-calibrating to accommodate the newer ride height , at a cost - obviously.

Thanks for the replies guys 😊

@AMGeed as I thought then regarding the wheels, back in the good old days I was into the modifying scene and had a few mk2 golf gti’s. Buying a set of aftermarket wheels for them didn’t seem so daunting as what it does for this class of car!!
Anyone bought from an eBay shop?
Not sure about the suspension, how could I find out? A guy on a FB forum sent a link to put my chassis number in and it’d tell you your car stats but mine didn’t work….worryingly 😆
I’m familiar with H&R so that’s cool you’ve recommended them!

@SmartAmg yeah pretty much mate, I like that. It can’t be too low as it’s a family car and my mrs will moan at me! It’s gotta still ride nice though but with not going crazy low that should be easy enough. Nice looking car, is it yours?

@KennyN thanks for the heads up, something to bear in mind that I hadn’t thought of 👍🏻

Thanks again

Nope, not my car, I used a wheel configurator to give you an idea of how it might look. 🙂
Couple more for you, again 20s and lowered 45mm. 👍

Nice one mate, appreciate that. That ride height looks perfect, with the wheels spaced out I think that’d look spot on. Thanks again 😊

I used wheelmaina for the c63 they sorted everything out so no need for spacers
Perfect, I’ll look them up now. Nice car mate, I’d love a 63 😍

stay away from spacers if you can, get the offset and size you need.

Lowering - if you have springs , then H&R are my usual go to. If on air then MWMods plug in module or some lowing links. Camber is always an issue when lowering so keep that in mind unless you are putting in aftermarket adjustable camber arms.

I’d only go for a small spacer if needed, 20mm max. If I can get the desired stance from the offset then perfect!

I’ve just checked and the rear is on air, no springs in sight. Would you recommend the module or links? Any pros cons?

Can’t camber be adjusted without a mod then?

Thanks for the help 👍🏻

is front on air too?

if front are springs , then H&R for front and lowering links for rear.

if both are air then you have a choice, links are cheaper, but once in your can only adjust the air ride via the cars mode (comfort/sport/raise).

If you go module, a bit more expensive but its an odb port adaptor and all adjustable via the dash. Good for car shows as you can drop it to max on the fly.

Not sure why you want to ruin a decent car?
Maybe better to buy a Vauxhall and pay a visit to Halfords

Front are springs so that’s easily sorted. I’ll look into the module as that sounds a bit more of what I’m looking for.
Appreciate the advice mate 👍🏻

Pretty sure changing the wheels and lowering it slightly is not going to ruin it 🤦🏻‍♂️
Thanks for your input though, great help

Agreed, a nice set of alloys and lowered, can make pretty much any car look good. Always modified me cars, (Not always successfully, but mostly) and always will. If it's in ya blood, ya can't help it. 🙂👍

"I’d only go for a small spacer if needed, 20mm max...."

20mm MAX ! I don't know much about spacers , but 20 mm (40mm overall) sounds quite a lot to me ?

Happy to be educated.

If front are springs then get the links the module is only good for full air, my previous w212 E63 had same setup as yours, H&R and links, with 20" Ispiri wheels, perfect look imo and didn't effect the comfort at all.

current car with air suspension all round with module and stock 20" rims, tbh I probably drive with the settings a little higher than this.

hope that helps

It would be a pretty boring world if we all liked the same cars or music.
Modifying a car doesn't mean its ruined. For the owner, he is improving it.

Yawn.....cars are built to a compromise from the factory....for reasons such as appealing to the widest possible audience, keeping NVH down, comfort and most of all cost. It's pretty easy to improve any car by fitting quality suspension like Bilstein ....you don't even have to lower it to feel the extra control. Other people are prepared to sacrifice a little of one to improve another....which I why I decided to sacrifice a little ride comfort on my car by making it slightly lower and stiffer with Eibach parts.....for which I gained a much more controlled high speed cornering experience. Even the best cars can be improved....or firms like Brabus, Alpina and Ruff Porsche etc would not exist. His mods might not suit your tastes but implying that it will ruin his car just shows your ignorance....or perhaps your age? :)
