You should shop around every year regardless of whether it goes up, down or stays the same.

You don't necessarily need to change insurer, but getting the cheapest quote and asking them to match it is the very least we should all be doing annually.

Gone through quite a lot, Hastings are the cheapest at £404 a saving of £82, as soon as you get to 70 the prices start to escalate....

I don't bother with loyalty when it comes to commodities, finance products and those sort of things - waste of time.

Loyalty went out the window when insurance companies expect existing customers to pay more at renewal time (even having never claimed a thing) than new punters. 10+ years ago I'd end up calling my agent, saying I wanted it matched or I'm walking. Mostly there were better value options around.
For UK insurance, the plethora of vendors, means it really is s buyers market and they know it. Car owners just have to be as hard-nosed as they are about it, unless convenience of sticking with your current provider is most important.

Given my experience of M&S I would suggest you compare the meerkat or throttle an opera singer or something. I saved £480 on my renewal versus "the best that the M&S panel could come up with".

I thought the same John, I worked out the AF was Adrian Flux but had to work it out
