Hi,
I am new here. We are driving a 2007 E200, so M271 engine.
Because so much is written about the wear of the timing chain and sprockets I decided to take a look: I found a lot of teeth broken off of the sprockets. The chain was still very tight, so that might have saved the engine.
I am now in the process of changing the chain, tensioner and sprockets. And I have come a decent end. The sprockets are in, the tensioner out and the old chain cut open (dremel action). I used the special tools to hold the camshafts and the chain.
However I am stuck now, because contrary to what I thought I arranged earlier I can't get hold of a temp chain link to pull the new chain in and can't get hold of the chain crimper.
So help :
If anyone in the vicinity of Old Windsor, Berkshire has the desire to lend/rent out the tools or any, please let me know.
Marc
