M272 engine question

Does anyone know at what year (ish) the 3.0 V6 (M272) petrol engine didn't suffer from balance shaft issues? Is it post 2007?

Also, what is generally thought to be to the most robust and trouble free engine gearbox combo in a modern MB?

A friend is thinking about an SLK280....

I reckon it must be around mid 2006 onwards, engine numbers after 30 468993.

Mine is a late 2007 car and many 10000s after this, I have seen early 2007 cars that are also well after this number.

Easy enough to check the engine number before purchase.

Best combo is a M112 or M113 engine with a 722.6 Gearbox

I would second that - absolutely brilliant engines and transmissions and so easy to maintain
