hi Guys could anyone possibly help me with how many NOX sensors are on my 2011 e350 M276 petrol engine please ? I have been searching online and on some threads they are saying there is 1 and others stating that there is actually 2 of them and use exactly the same part numbers. Also again if there is actually 2 on the car is it worth replacing these in pairs ?

The reason I’m asking is because I’m now getting the engine management light pop up whenever I push the car a little bit harder than normal but no power loss but it is using more fuel than usual. I have been deleting the code and management light using my new diagnostic tool but after driving a little harder than normal the light will again pop up and so will the same error code P220101

Mercedes have one in stock for collection for £380 part number A0009053403 which I believe is the correct part but I’ve noticed a polish seller on eBay selling the same item brand new but unboxed for only £238 delivered not sure if it’s worth the risk or not

Has anyone ordered off eBay from Poland before he seems to sell lots of mercedes brand new parts so any feedback or recommendations would be great thanks everyone

Hi

Just recently had a single one on mine replaced (by MBS) due to the same symptons and the part cost about the £350 mari (about £350) and was not replaced in pairs
Ps I believe looking at the STAR report, there are actually 3 of the buggas!

That’s great to hear I’ll just purchase the one for now then and see how it goes fingers crossed it solves the issue for good. Can I just ask what did (MBS) charge for labour ?

Cannot recall, and didn't look at the invoice this morning
Will let you know the time on it this evening (@half time perhaps!)

Grober - Thanks for the M276 service encyclopaedia!
Where you do get all this stuff / knowledge :)

Thank you very much I appreciate it mate

I’ve actually called MERCEDES this morning and the part number I gave him is apparently different to what his system shows for my VIN number and is £400 but no stock anywhere in the uk or Germany and could take a while to get one he said. He also refused to give me the correct part number apparently it’s not allowed so I’m stuck now

If you post up your chassis no someone may be able to give you a part number

Right- its complicated! the NOx sensor has changed from
A0009055100 replaced by
A0009056900 replaced by
A0009053403 old part must no longer be used and replaced by
A0009056104 part is only supplied as reconditioned unit

plus A2125408210 NOx sensor wiring adapter left
A2125408310 NOx sensor wiring adapter right

so interpreting that the NOx sensor design has changed the latest version is A0009056104 only available [ or not!] as a reconditioned unit and may require a wiring adapter part no depending on whether its the left or right one??
thats my best guess.

The second from last seems to be available also - seems from the picture it comes with the control unit so possibly no wiring issue?
Mercedes Benz Lambdasonde NOX DPF Sensor System A0009053403 A0009056104 | eBay
best to contact the german supplier with your chassis number to check suitability and wiring?

Thank you so much mate that’s amazing seems like I’m finally getting somewhere at last that’s a great help

Hi, its half time so....

MBS put 1.5 hours against this and the STAR time needed

Part was £353 plus Vat so sod me, that was expensive... Glad I didn't need 2.
I could have perhaps got the part cheaper but I had a load of business miles to do and wanted the EML gone.

MB parts are a bitch.....

Managed to find 2 x as stated above new reconditioned ones from a site online for $200 each

Thanks for that mate it’s so expensive for what it actually is and more annoying is how many there are on this car Anyway I’ve managed to order 2 x A0009056104 which is the revised one I couldn’t find any new ones around so had to buy used but they come with a 30 day return policy so if no good I’ll just return them. Fingers crossed they are exactly what I need and not bad at the fact he accepted my offer of £212 delivered for the 2.

Thanks again for everyone’s help

UPDATE

Hi everyone just to update you on today’s fun and games with the NOX sensors I booked it in with my local Mercedes Benz specialist who fitted the 2 replacement NOX sensors A0009056104 that I purchased from Germany last week.

The light had stayed off all last week and I was actually in two minds on getting them fitted today but on the way this morning I gave it a hard drive and still no EML light but I did a diagnostic check and the fault code was showing so I was happy to have them replaced

After dropping it off I get a call after a hour to say the old ones are seized solid and they will need to cut the cable to get to the nut I obviously agreed as I needed them changed. 10 mins later another call to say they are both changed and it’s ready

Collected the car it felt different in a nice way very smooth and seemed more powerful not sure if it was just in my head or not but I was happy until I got home and again did the diagnostic check to now find 2 new codes again linked to the NOX sensor again bank 1. P2205 & P2201 gutted about it because the mechanic said he had done a test drive and did another diagnostic check and no codes so it seems it’s only when you give it a hard drive

I’ve removed the codes again but I’m stuck on my next options I just don’t want anything bad to happen to the car if left untreated. The only thing I will say is I didn’t replace the 2 x wiring adapters not sure if this could cause the problems ?

So anything anyone can add I’d be very grateful thank you

Did the sensors come with their own control units? And did the EML warning light come on/

Hi mate thanks for your quick reply and I’ve attached the picture of the sensors I received and yes both came with with their own control units it never brought the EML light on but showed under fault codes when I did the diagnostic check when I got home

Well this leaves the mystery of the "wiring adapters" I had assumed they were between the sensor and control unit
but they might be between the control unit and the main wiring loom. Again you think "adapter" its a connector thing but may be some form of suppressor to prevent the unit throwing codes - simply don't know. this what they look like.

You could very well be right their mate just had a look on eBay and found these pictures of the old units I took off and looks like it would connect to the main loom so I think I’d best try and get some new wiring adapters and give them a try

Just called my local Mercedes dealership to get a price on the 2 new harness i couldn’t believe it when he told me the price I was expecting a small fortune but no only £15.30 for the 2 all in direct from Germany and they will be here Wednesday

Well this leaves the mystery of the "wiring adapters" I had assumed they were between the sensor and control unit

Are they possibly to mitigate the "oil in the loom" migrations problem ?
There were similar "adapters" for the M271 cam adjuster magnets.
