Macbook Air

Hi

I am looking to buy a Macbook Air to use on the go, as I don't get on with using the iPad for work and miss the keyboard.

I have a Macbook Pro at home, so am looking at an early first generation Macbook Air for light use, email, and Microsoft Office.

Has anyone experience of the early models and how they perform with Office 2011?

Also has anyone upgraded the OS to Lion and how does it perform? Web searches show mixed reviews of if the machine can handle it.

Yes and Yes. First gen 13" 1.8 with 2gb of RAM it has 10.7 and has 2011. Works fine for my users needs. 10.6 is better for this model

This one is 1.6 with 2gb RAM and an upgraded 120gb hard drive.

Picked one up on eBay am tempted to try it on Lion, as I have already paid for it on my Macbook Pro so wont have to pay for it again.

Mountain Lion is fine to install. TBH if you go an get a nw on at 1k it will last a good 4 years, they are a great machine. I'm on my fourth right now.

Sorry maybe a bit late to this, I have one and it is fine. Would have recommended the solid state drive though....
