I just bought an '82 500sl, which I'm delighted with! It is in generally very good condition with a few bubbles if rust starting to come through.
What is the best way to maintain the car? sanding and patching, new wings, new bumpers?
Can anyone recommend a good body shop in the glasgow area?
Any any other tips!
Thanks

Unfortunately with these cars replacement panels are the only way to go as the extent of the rust can be hidden from view. The sills are common replacement items - as is the bootlid etc.

Check the boot well, plenum chamber, jacking points, cross-members, under the mats in the car and soft top storage compartment. All drain points and they get blocked and frequently rot.
