Found out why my roof won't go down when I first start the car.
Can anyone recommend a good quality maintenance charger. Cheers

I know I will sound stupid but do I connect the charger to the main battery in the engine bay or the one in the boot?

I have used Optimate chargers on bikes for years. Easy to use, reliable, inexpensive.
I think they do one for cars too.

Yup, AccuMate:

AccuMate 6V & 12V Battery Maintenance Charger

Had mine about 7 years now, great bit of kit. One thing I really like is the optional wall mount.

I was looking at TVRs before I got the SL, and one big dealer provided an AccuMate with each car they sold!

I *think* it will be the one in the boot as that's what operates the 'optional' bits & pieces. But you need an R230 owner to confirm really, my R129 only has one battery (a dirty great one, in the boot)!

Accumate is the one I use , great piece of kit. I also use it's little brother on the bikes and never have a problem

Accumates are good and reasonably priced. Lidl's are good and very cheap
:thumb: :D

Use two Accumates on the SL55. Also use about 50 of them at storage facilty on everything from Ferrari to Harley Davidsons. Never a problem. Recommended.

If it's like my W221, there's a tall brass pin (positive) under the bonnet near the front battery, that charges both batteries. For negative just connect to the front battery.

I use a C-TEK which is what every single mechanic that I've talked to recommend.

Thanks very much will go and check for that right now.
Just ordered the CTEK MXS 7.0 so hopefully no more roof problems,Thanks again to this great forum for all the tips and advice.

On the W221 the pin is under a black plastic cover where the relays are.
But yea the R230 is probably different to the W221 anyway.
