Pretty scary  :(

A man has died after he was dragged for a mile under the wheels of a bendy bus in east London.

The 21-year-old was trapped beneath the wheels of the number 25 bus after getting off in Ilford High Road at the junction with Clements Road.

Emergency crews were called to Romford Road, near Rabbits Road, at about 0515 BST on Tuesday, after a passer-by spotted the man's body.

The driver of the bus has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

The victim is believed to have got off the bus with a friend after 0500 BST.

"It appears at this early stage that the male then fell and became trapped beneath the wheels of the bus," said a police spokesman.

"The body was dislodged after approximately a mile in Romford Road, just past the junction with Rabbits Road."

Motorists were advised to avoid the area due to cordons and road closures.

The area is cordoned off from Ilford High Road to the area close to Rabbits Road, which is off Romford Road.

The bus, operated by East London Buses, has been seized and will undergo examination.

As my old sargeant used to say, it's only safe to go once you have checked you dion't have any pedestrians under the bus.

They had another bendy bus catch fire last week, some time after this particular little annoyance was supposed to have been fixed. Luckily it was on the way from the depot to start work and had no passengers on board yet ...

all in the quest to be green

I have a feeling that some people may just have been killed by forms of transport that are not "green"........................................do you think?............................... do you?

London's roads aren't big enough for the bendy buses. There's hardly enough room anyway with all the road layouts, lines, bollards, islands and don't get me started about road markings or the myriad of signs especially parking ones which you often need a PhD is sign interpretation to understand. We have dealt with a space problem by reducing the available space still further. Other countries get by with far less in the way of these things than we do - mind they have more space to start with but it really pisses me off because I'm paying for it all.

It seems the motorway isn't big enough for bendy buses either

Fatalities are extremely rare - one fatality for every 100 million miles operated
The bloke should have checked the milometer before getting on.
