Manifold Probs

Anyone know if the exhaust manifold on 1999 clk 230 k auto coupe goes down or up when removed from car.

Undone everything but can't get it to worm it's way out!

Got a nice race header to go in, and built a system from stainless.

Everything is stripped right back but there doesn't seem enough space to get to it, engine has a bit of play but not enough to squeeze her out!

Undo the engine mountings and lift the engine on a jack and a piece of wood under the sump. Pull slightly to the passengers side and the manifold should lift off in an upward direction. If it wont move check that you have undone all the manifold bolts. If I remember correctly there are three bolts by number 4 cylinder, one is hidden under the pipe.
