Does anybody go past this place?I would much appreciate if you do ,you could report on the condition of a prospective purchase.

Thanks
Barry

I do but I won't be going near it for a few days I'm afraid.
What is it you need checking:confused:

Just want to check general condition,no signs of accident damage, smokers damage inside, Tyre depths, does it look good really.:D

PM me.

Regards
Barry

I would love to hear your expirience at MB direct, I have been going to the Kingston branch for ages now... although some of my familiy's cars have come from the waltham cross site.

I would expect it to do be near-as-dammit perfect, possibly with a little rear tyre wear, relevant to age (and bearing in mind it's a 350).

I bought my C270CDi Estate from MB Direct Birmingham at 5mths/6000miles. It had been used by some kind of MB area manager in the North West (several of the dealerships were stored in the COMAND menu!).
It was, to all intents and purposes, brand new - my wife, who has an eye for these things, reckoned no one had ever sat in the back of it.
It did have a rather bizzare deep cut in the plastic of the centre console, but the salesman dismissed that and said it would be repaired. So it was, and no-one would ever know it had been done (and that's with light grey interior).

I'm going back almost 3yrs now, but I found the salesguy I dealt with at B'ham *very* keen to deal - refreshing after "normal" MB dealers. My car was listed at £26995 and I got him to £25K on the phone, then gave a holding deposit to view only (which he never actually took), then got another £1500 off when I did the deal. Even then they threw in the phone cradle so there may have more room. I paid cash but they ended up offering me HP at a rate were I'd have been marginally better off taking it.

There's a bit of a car-supermarket kind of attitude though - it's all about selling cars. A couple of bits of paperwork never turned up and I gave up in the end. If you buy, leave time and make sure everything is sorted on the day - took over 2hrs to pick my car up and I was loosing the will to live!

I have bought two E class estates from Caterham branch in the last two years and found the service much as described by Rory.
They were keen to deal and both the cars (at about 6k miles) were very well presented.:)
Only thing is, as Rory says, can take a little while to sort the paper work, one had to be taxed while I was there!
I can live with the 10k saving on list price for somebody else to run it in for me and a short wait:D
Make sure you get both keys!

although the car is at Waltham,I Was directed to Manchester as I am "up North".I have a trade in so I have got them down 2.5K already with a few small extras thrown in. I have not seen the car other than pics.I assume all will be OK but have asked for e mail confirmations.

Interesting about the holding deposit .I may try this and can view it on Monday next week possibly at Waltham asI have to be in Birmingham.(can hire a car and drive down).Better to see before buying!

I was dubious about this, but I was getting a bit desperate as my company car was about to go back. They'd had 2 almost identical cars (one was C220 and the other a C270) but I was (very unusually for me) ill for a couple of days and they'd sold the C220 in that time.
The salesguy suggested I put a deposit on it and he would take it off sale for a couple of days while I got myself together and got down there (90 mins away). He made it clear that I was leaving the deposit to view only and would be under no obligation to buy the car. I used a credit card just in case!
As I mentioned, in the event he told me afterwards that he hadn't taken the deposit off my card anyway.

I've had worse experiences of MB Direct in Kingston. I put a c/c deposit down on a car, subject to wife seeing it (got the manager to sign the order to that effect). She decided it was not the car for her, and I am having great difficulty in getting the refund. I'll let her get her own car next time. Which will be when the current one blows up!!

But they are VERY keen to do deals, as has been pointed out. I looked when I was looking for a C320CDI, but they never had the right options on their cars.

They may be keen to deals, but I contacted another branch and they said as it was a MB office car they could not negotiate the same.Even the Manchester dealer has given some discount but is wavering on number plate transfer and floor mats.I am tempted to walk but it still seems a good deal ,despite not seeing the car.Hopefully Marcos will get a look.

By the way sorry to hear you had a bad dealing with them,I will be careful.

Thanks

The one I bought was an MB Managers car and they slashed the price of that. But they sell Merc's all day and my impression is that they move the cars on pretty quickly, so one therefore must assume that they know what they're doing.
I was pleased with the deal I got (the car has all the key options including COMAND and phone prep) and I'm someone who normally suffers terribly from "buyer's regret"!
If the deal is not right for you then walk away. (Leave your contact details though and ask them to keep in touch if they can think of a way to help you buy the car).

I suppose getting 10K of the price of a new car with 10K miles and not yet a year old is a good buy.Like you I suffers Buyers regret.
I do not have them getting back to me though after 2 days and they are not that busy.I have also asked for an e mail confirming no accident damage along with the deal but nothing on that yet either.

Bought mine from MB Direct in B'ham, without seeing it and had it delivered (no extra charge). Got partway through a conversation about condition (it was nearly 2 years old and had 32k on the clock), but the salesman cut me short on discussing scratches and stone chips saying 'we'll sort all that out'. When the car was delivered, they hadn't but whilst we had a bit of hassle around logistics for doing it they never quibbled that it needed doing and was their bill. Eventually they picked up the car (120 miles away) and left me a loan vehicle whilst they sorted it out.

Overall, it was a very good price for the vehicle - took about £2500 off the sticker price, which was already lower than Parkers said for that car/options. 5 months and 8k miles on and I'm very happy - price guides still indicate I could trade in for about £3k less than I paid; depreciation at less than 40p/mile over such a short timeframe leaves me content, though I'm looking to run it for about 5 years.

The latest on this little purchasing saga is that they have come back to me rejecting my deal. The best they can do is give me basic trade for mine and want their sticker price for theirs. No leeway to negotiate down£1500.They seemed keen to deal at first but obviously their manager does not want to play ball at this quiet time.Good luck to them!

that's a shame to hear. Mind you, they've got your number and as the 31st apprioaches they might just feel inclined to give you a tinkle

Marcos

Did you get a chance to look?

Despite my comments ,I am still trying to buy this car, your input would help.
Anyone else near this Dealership?

Went to Ballsall Common Yesterday whilst in Brum.It was not very impressive.Very used car ,not what I would expect from MB!

Thanks
Barry

I don't normally go past there but I can in the morning if it would help, it would be an alternative way to work but wouldn't be out of the way at all. Let me know.
